This is indeed a busy month for the Malta U-17 and U-19 teams who will be in action in their respective qualifying groups from the European Championship.

The teams, under the tutelage of Branko Nisevic and Billy Mock, in the younger category, and Emanuel Farrugia in the older, will be engaged in the qualification rounds of the age-group tournaments.

The U-17 side will be travelling to Montenegro to play in Group 11 which includes Montenegro, Poland and Spain. The Maltese play Poland on Oct. 19, Spain on Oct. 21 and Montenegro on Oct. 24.

Malta U-19s are in Austria and play the host country today and Denmark two days later. They round up their commitments against Albania on Monday.

Meanwhile, four former national team players – David Carabott, Carmel Busuttil, Joe Brincat and Gilbert Agius – will be honoured by UEFA for playing more than 100 internationals for the country.

All four will receive mementoes from UEFA before next Tuesday’s Euro 2012 qualifier between Malta and Israel at the National Stadium.
