Former Prime Minister Dom Mintoff was admitted to Gozo General Hospital  today.

Informed sources said Mr Mintoff is suffering Pneumonia. His condition is not considered critical, but it is serious, considering his age.

The 95-year-old former Labour leader was last in hospital in February after he suffered a deterioration of his level of consciousness.

He had previously been in and out of hospital diagnosed with numerous conditions common among the elderly and which often result in repeated hospital admission.

Mr Mintoff had been staying in Gozo for a few days.
