Ministry intervenes to procure medicine
The Health Ministry said this evening that Simvastatin 20mg medicine will be available in pharmacies by the end of this week.
The ministry said that after the local agent failed to supply the medicine on time, it had procured the consignment from other companies who will be paid by the contracted agent.
Simvastatinis is used for the treatment of cholesterol.

I just hope that the Maltese Health Minister will get his finger out and play the white man's game and get on with making sure that all neccessary medication is availbale pronto in all Chemists around the island, what the hell does he think he is playing at gambling with people's lives. Many times i called at my local chemist to collect my FREE????? medication, well in actual fact indirectly its not free at all for us expats as my government subsidise us through our national health service we have be paying all our lives back home with an agreement with the Maltese health system(LOL), and natually some locals think that we are obtaining these life threatening medication for free, directly yes when available untill some bright charlie in Malta decides whether it is available or not. You guys can argue till the coWs come home, but this just do not happen in GREAT BRITAIN. Period.

Maybe you should have been more careful about your lifestyle and eating habits in your younger years... these drugs don't make miracles, they should be taken in conjunction with a healthy diet and regular exercise :):)

Well done Minister, this is how things should be solved, by sheer determined action. Now that the Zocor saga has ended sucessfully, why not do the same thing in respect of Diovan 80 pls. Pensioners and low wage families in need of these medications truly cannot afford to buy them.....no beating about the bush in this respect please.

I hope all pharmacists get to read this and explain to their patients the cause for their missing medicines as I've heard all sorts of explanations in various pharmacies. Obviously the blame is always Gonzi's!! To these I say.... 'Get your facts right before criticizing'

Of course it is. Do you know how much the government owes the suppliers?
