• President George Abela will pay an official visit to San Lawrenz today. The visit will start with Mass at San Lawrenz parish church. An arts and crafts exhibition by residents will also be put up.

• The Gozitan Graduates Movement will be holding First Friday Mass at St Augustine church,Victoria, at 8.30 p.m. The sacrament of reconciliation will be available before Mass.

• The diocesan Eucharistic Movement will be holding a prayer evening at Jesus of Nazzareth church, Xagħra, on Saturday at 8 p.m., followed by Mass at midnight.

• The Bethel Charismatic Group is holding a prayer meeting at the church of Our Lady of Pompeii, Victoria, on Saturday at 7 p.m.

• A marriage preparation course, ‘Mixja għat-tħejjija għaż-żwieġ u l-ħajja tal-familja’, will start in all Gozo parishes next weekend. The two-year course is organised by the Family Commission for the Gozo diocese. Those interested can contact their parish priests.

• St Gregory’s band club of Kerċem will be organising Festubru between Friday and Sunday. The event will be held at Lunzjata Valley. The Lunzjata chapel will be open during the three-day event.

• Xagħra council will be holding a fig festival between Saturday and next Sunday. A talk will be given at the Victory Philharmonic Society’s club on Saturday at 9.30 a.m. During the festival the council will sign a twinning agreement with the Comune of San Michele Salentino in Italy. An exhibition of fig products will be held at Victory Square on Sunday between 8.30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

• The University of Malta – Gozo Campus will be holding a short course in ‘Emotional Intelligence’ at the Gozo Campus, Mġarr Road, Xewkija, starting on October 21.

Lectures will be held every Friday between 5 and 9 p.m. and on one Saturday from 8.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. Application forms can be obtained from the campus.
