Prelude to my Death is the latest publication by writer of all things macabre Anton Grasso.

The author’s 51st novel, Prelude To My Death is different from his previous publications.

It is a personal and intimate voyage into the author’s world, with factual writings and verses enhanced with photographs, some of them in colour, of those close to his heart who have left an indelible mark. There are also personal letters and comments from Maltese and international authors.

This time, rather than going through the morbid tunnel of Grasso’s fictional fears and fantasies, readers can delve into the vein of his real fears, thoughts, wishes and inhibitions.

Grasso published his first book, Iljieli bla Qamar (Moonless Nights) in 1974 at the age of 22. It is a collection of 30 of his first stories, mostly in the horror genre, the first collection of modern horror stories in Maltese.

Since then, he has published numerous volumes of stories, novels, translations, essays, poetry, an autobiography and studies. One of them, Enigma, adapted as a television series, won the National Authority Prize as the best documentary in 1995. Most of Grasso’s books have been sold out, 11 of them reprinted.

The cover of Grasso’s new book is by Mario Cocker and is a collage of some of the author’s personal photographs.

Published by Miller Distributors Ltd, Prelude To My Death is available in all leading stationeries.
