Strictly Come Dancing star Nancy Dell’Olio says she scares men off – because she is so popular.
The Italian businesswoman believes her position in the public eye is too much for her suitors.
In an interview with Hello! magazine, she also confirms she has put her relationship with theatre director Sir Trevor Nunn on hold.
Ms Dell’Olio will be seen slipping into a sparkling figure-hugging gown later this week for her first live dance in the BBC1 ballroom contest. But she reckons her high profile takes its toll on her relationships.
“I’ve had a few situations where men got scared of this, but this is my life – If a man cannot cope with all this ...,” she said. “My previous partner, he couldn’t cope with my popularity. Men sometimes find it difficult to cope with a woman who is the centre of attention.”
Ms Dell’Olio rose to prominence as the girlfriend of former England football manager Sven-Goran Eriksson, and earlier this year spent time with Sir Trevor.
