(Adds PL's statement)

Transport Minister Austin Gatt is unperturbed by an opposition motion calling for his resignation because of the transport fiasco and has not lost any sleep over it.

The motion, presented by Labour's spokesman on transport Joe M Sammut, condemned the government for lack of planning, saying its failure has led to total confusion.

It insists that the government must publish all relevant contracts, including those related to consultancy work related to the reform and calls for the resignation of Dr Gatt, the management of Transport Malta and all political appointees involved in the bus service reform.

Dr Gatt said when asked for a reaction this afternoon that he will react to the motion in Parliament.

"All I can tell you is that when they submitted the motion I slept soundly."

PL STATEMENT

The Labour Party said in a statement that if the minister was sleeping soundly, it was a sign that he was comfortable and well served.

The same could not be said for children, young people and workers who were having to wake up early to go to school or to work.

A serious minister would have been greatly concerned at the suffering he caused. He would also consider resigning.

Yet again, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi was cut off from the realities families were facing, the PL said adding that it sided with the people.
