Adjustment to the bus routes and new direct services to Mater Dei and the University have been announced by Transport Malta and the Transport Ministry.
The changes and additions will come into force on Sunday. These changes include new and better connections to Mater Dei Hospital and University from all locations, except for connections to and from a limited number of locations which will come into effect on November 6. The localities benefiting from new and better connections to Mater Dei include Marsaskala; Siggiewi/Zebbug, Birzebbugia/Bir id-Deheb/Zejtun/Tarxien/Paola; Senglea/ Cospicua/Kalkara/Paola; Santa Lucija/Paola; Mqabba/Qrendi/Zurrieq/Safi/Kirkop.
The changes on Sunday will also see the introduction of a new direct connection between Kappara, San Gwann and Ta' Giorni to Valletta and vice versa, every 60 minutes, providing a new service to Sliema Road area of Kappara and providing a direct service to Valletta for the areas of Triq l-iStefanotis, Triq is-Sebbuqa and Ta' Giorni.
Routes 81 and 82 connecting Marsaxklokk and Birzebbugia respectively to Valletta have been revised and will now omit the Marsa P&R and Hamrun (Mile End) stops to provide a quicker route to and from Valletta. The routes will operate every 20 minutes all day long.
The changes also reflect the amalgamation and/or abolition of a number of feeder lines linking central north to the south directly such as new route 110 (combination of feeder line routes 116 and 110) linking the Marsa Park and Ride to Sliema Ferries and new route 120 (replacing feeder line routes 120, 121, 125) linking Pembroke P & R to Xghajra.
The Transport Ministry said the changes had been drawn up on the basis of comments and complaints made by the public.

The ministry said that with these changes and others which have already come on stream, it was confident that the bus service would continue to improve. It promised to continue to note the view of the people, local councils and bus operator Arriva.
