As of today, Liquigas customers can replace faulty gas regulators with new Liquicontrol regulators. The new regulators are available at all Liquigas resellers as well as the Liquigas office in Qajjenza and are free of charge.

Liquigas’ green Liquicontrol regulators were withdrawn from the market last month after tests revealed they posed a “serious risk to consumers”. There were some 4,000 Liquicontrol regulators in circulation.

The Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority also ordered a withdrawal of blue TPA Butane LR2522 regulators. Despite the withdrawal, Liquigas were keen to stress that there had been no reported leakages or compatibility issues with the old Liquicontrol regulators. The new regulators have been manufactured specifically for the Maltese market by Italian company Lagoplast and are fully compliant with current EU standards. News of the available replacements will come as relief to consumers concerned by the safety shortcomings of the previous regulators. It will be scant consolation, however, to consumers using TPA Butane LR2522 regulators, who have yet to be provided with any replacement regulators.
