Courses on parenting skills organised by Sedqa’s Prevention Services will be held in October.
Titled Inrabbu ’l Uliedna Aħja, the first course targets parents of children aged up to 11. This six-lecture course will deal with topics including parenting leadership styles, phases of child psychology, effective communication within the family, responsible involvement of children in the family, sexuality and substance abuse.
Those wishing to attend this course may choose between morning sessions, starting on October 18 and held between 9.30 a.m. and 11.30 a.m., or evening sessions, starting on October 19 and held between 6 and 8 p.m.
The second course is aimed at parents of young people aged between 11 and 18. This course will also be spread over six sessions and will discuss issues such as the phases of teenage psychology; effective communication with teenagers; dealing with peer-pressure; media and leisure-time; sexuality; substance abuse; cyber bullying and computer misuse. This course will start on October 17 and will be held in the evenings between 6 and 8 p.m.
Both courses will be delivered in Maltese by professional staff trained in the respective fields. Related educational material will be distributed during lectures.
The course venue is St Joseph’s Home, St Joseph’s High Road, St Venera. Child care facilities will be available upon request. Course fees apply.
