• A jumble sale in aid of Fatima Sanctuary, Guardamanġa, is being held at the parish hall, next to the parish church, up to October 16. Opening hours are daily from 9.30 a.m. until noon and from 2.30 to 7 p.m.

• There will be Mass at 10 a.m. today at Mqabba parish church to give thanks for the completion of the first phase of the reconstruction of the Mqabba Our Lady of Lilies Musical Society club premises. The Mass will be with the participation of Our Lady of Lilies Musical Society. An open day at the newly reconstructed premises will commence afterwards. For more information call 7985 3044.

• The European Day of Languages is being celebrated tomorrow. As part of the festivities, a free music concert will be held at Valletta Waterfront on Friday at 8 p.m.

• The Youth Section within the Our Lady of Lilies Musical Society of Mqabba is organising a one night five-a-side football tournament to take place on Friday from 8.30 p.m. on the synthetic pitch adjacent the Mqabba Football Club in Triq il-Madonna tal-Gilju. The winning team will be awarded €500. Applications are available at the Lily Band Club premises in Mqabba Square and are to be filled in and returned by tomorrow. • The next meeting of the St George Preca group being held on Friday at 6.30 p.m. at the Museum Headquarters in Blata l-Bajda (entrance next to Preca Library). Couples and mature adults are especially welcome.

• Fr Alex Refalo will lead a silent retreat from Friday after dinner till next Sunday after lunch at Manresa retreat house, Victoria, during which participants will learn how to use the four-stage ‘Lectio Divina’ method of reading, meditating, praying and contemplating with the sacred scriptures and the bible.

• ALPS (Association of Lyceum Past Students) will be resuming Dance to Health lessons on Saturday following the summer recess.
