Killing of unborn children
Some countries are schizophrenic. They abolish the death penalty for fear of killing a possibly innocent person. Yet they have laws allowing the killing of definitely innocent, unborn children.

@ruby... i believe that when women take full resposability for the born human, not go asking for money then. very convenient to include paternal rights where it suits you...

This is a very controversial subject.
It all boils down to whether or not a 5 month old fetus is a person by definition. A fetus does not become a citizen until it is born and since these related laws only apply to citizens, they do not apply to unborn babies.
I am certainly not in favour of killing unborn babies but we sometimes have to consider what a woman would be going through if she were pregnant due to being violently raped. In these circumstances, if you were that woman and your psychological condition after such a trauma did not allow you to accept the pregnancy, what do you suggest she does about it?

There is no other kind of rape than a violent one. So, the trauma of undergoing an operation to get rid of "products of conception" is supposed to cancel out thenightmare of being raped?

Mr Caffari, you may think that abortion will help a woman who has been trough rape but research shows the exact opposite.
Read the book, 'Victims and Victors by Dr Reardon' for a scientific study by a psychologist on rape and abortion. In it, women who have been raped talk about the real effects of an abortion even after rape.
Read her book 'Forbidden grief' and see what the advise of people like Emmy Bezzina and even this K Consiglio will do to women if they ever had their way.

I thought I had better get in a comment in support of human life before the pro-choice and pro abortion lobby got going.
Life is an issue for us all - it is not owned by the religious.
Life begins at conception as any decent scientist will tell you.
A human foetus is not just a ball of cells but the first stage of human life.
An unborn human being is a human being with potential and not a potential human being.
Using ancient quotes from Thomas Aquinas regarding souls is of no value.
Rights come with responsibilities - we are all responsible for human life and to live at all is the most fundemental of human rights.
An unborn human is not an extension of the mother upon which that child relies.
Support human life from conception until natural death.

Its the woman's choice wether or not to terminate a pregnancy. There are many reasons why she may wish to do so. I know of a young woman who was desparate for a baby and unfortunately when she got pregnant after many tests her baby had a rare disease and would probably not survive beyond its first year. She and her husband followed medical advice and had a termination. To bring a child in to this world that would have to spend its short life in hospital with no hope in their minds was unthinkable. This choice should always be there for those that need it.

@ Ruby Jenner: That would mean that you are giving the mother, or anyone for that matter, a right to terminate a life - a human life. I am sorry, but what about the right of the unborn? I would be the last person to agree with people like Grry Cowie but you are very simplistic in giving the woman that 'choice'.

Gerry - you are confusing the beginning of life with the beginning of a human person ... look ti up, there is a difference, oh sorry, you are told what to think so you don't need to check !

"Life begins at conception as any decent scientist will tell you."
That's called a "True Scotsman fallacy", one of several logical fallacies.

Franco Farrugia,
You're taking it for granted that the baby wants to come to this world, I'm sorry but there are people who wish they had not been born.

@karl consiglio....with the same reasoning if I kill someone who wants to die it should be legal?

@ r buttigieg
Supposing that you had a dearly loved one who was in excruciating pain, suffering from a terminal condition, and this person begged you to help end the misery once and for all in a dignified manner, would your love for this person extend to providing the requested help or would you be selfish enough to refuse? Just curious.
