• The Sannat council today pre-sents Notte Scarlatta between 9 a.m. and noon and from 5 until 9.15 p.m. The event will feature military vehicles, show and ride tours, a talk by Charles Bezzina, a guided tour on foot leaving from the main square at 10 a.m.

The Sinnet folk group and daqqaqa will also take part.
Band marches by St Margaret Band will be held at 5 p.m., followed by the blessing of pets with the participation of the Gozo Bird Breading Society and SPCA.
Other activities include martial arts at 6.30 p.m., a dance show at 6.50 p.m., a play entitled ‘L-Attakk tal-10 t’Ottubru 1942 fuq Ta’ Sannat’, by the Għaqda Drammatika Sannat, at 7.30 p.m. and a concert by Cash and Band at 9.15 p.m.
• Kerċem Ajax FC will today organise a motor show in the new street leading to Ninu Cremona Secondary School in Victoria between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. There will be new models, food, entertainment and a children’s area.
• A charity fair organised by the Friends of the Sick and Elderly in Gozo will be held today at the football ground near the Victoria bus station between 7.30 a.m. and 1 p.m. €10 will be charged for each car space.
• Masses at Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary will be celebrated today at 6.15 a.m., 8.30, 10, 11.15 and 5 p.m. At 6 p.m. there will be rosary, followed by Eucharistic benediction.
• Wirt Għawdex will be holding a fundraising pasta night on Friday at the low battery at the Citadel, Victoria. Tickets are €18. Live entertainment will be provided by Rosabelle Pavia and the Harvey and Jackson Duo. For more information visit www.wirtghawdex.org.
• The diocesan Eucharistic Movement will hold a prayer evening at St Augustine church, Victoria, on Saturday at 8 p.m., followed by Mass at midnight.
• The Catholic Action Movement in Gozo will hold its general assembly at its headquarters in Victoria on Saturday at 5 p.m. Its new president Antoine Vassallo will address the audience.
• The marriage preparation programme (Mixja għat-tħejjija għaż-żwieġ u l-ħajja tal-familja) will resume in all Gozo parishes in the first weekend of next month. The two-year course is organised by the Family Commission for the Gozo Diocese. Engaged couples can obtain more information and apply for participation by contacting their parish priests.
• The Għaqda Mużikali San Girgor of Kerċem will be organising Festubru between October 7 and 9. The event will be held at Lunzjata Valley. The festival will feature farming tools and animals, the production of Gozitan cheeslets and wool weaving, fresh produce and preservatives. The Lunzjata chapel will be open during the three-day event.
• Xagħra council will hold a fig festival between October 8 and 9. A talk will be given at the Dun Alwiġ Camilleri hall at the Victory Philharmonic Society’s club on October 8 at 9.30 a.m. During the festival, the council will sign a twinning agreement with the Comune of San Michele Salentino in Italy. An exhibition of fig-made products will be held in Victory Square on October 9 between 8.30 a.m. and 1 p.m. This exhibition will be accompanied by traditional folk music. Xagħra council forms part of Ficusnet, a network of European cities which produce figs.
