Science and culture unite

Nuclear bombs, IVF and smartphones feature in an unusual exhibition which merges science and culture.

An exhibition entitled ‘Science and society’ will be running at Lily Agius Gallery in Sliema during Malta Design Week from next Sunday to October 8.

Organised in partnership with a new NGO called Science is Culture, ‘Science and Society’ exposes the art of local artists.

Norbert Attard explores sex change through video and warfare using innovative printing techniques to preserve lace-like designs in glass.

John Paul Azzopardi will be exhibiting Bored Calculator and iP, two sculptures that bite into the heart of the apathy created from technological progress.

This theme will be contrasted by Chris Psaila’s unexpected profile of Steve Jobs, the creative juggernaut behind iPads, iPhones and iPods — what was life like without them?

Elisa von Brockdorf will be presenting a new installation that playfully toys with fate. This exhibition showcases other great local artists, photographers and designers featuring works by Jimmy V., Grima, Julien Vinet, Celia Borg Cardona and George Micallef Eynaud.
