The teachers’ union is asking the Directorate of Educational Services to look into the transfer of three lecturers from the Institute of Tourism Studies to state schools, when none of them had asked to be transferred.

The Malta Union of Teachers said the three lecturers were highly specialised and qualified in their respective teaching areas at ITS.

“Although it seems that the three lecturers have been made redundant by ITS due to lack of teaching hours, further investigations have found this did not appear to be the case and all the three lecturers appear to have sufficient teaching hours and a host of projects under their supervision to warrant a place at ITS,” the union said.

The MUT said it was informed that while the directorate acted immediately to check upon the issue, ITS had not yet provided the information requested.
