ARMS denies MEP's claims
ARMS Ltd has denied claims by Labour MEP Edward Scicluna about a high number of families having had their electricity cut off.
The company said that it was not true that since 2008 nearly 5% of all Maltese homeshad their electricity disconnected.
"Approximately 0.71% of households had their electricity disconnected for non-payment of electricity bills in each of the years between 2008 and 2011. Almost all these households subsequently had their electricity service reconnected in the period following this disconnection," ARMS said.
It said it was also untrue that Maltese families entitled to social support were being denied energy coupons unless they could settle their bills in full.
"In this case customers with energy coupons who cannot pay their bills in full are encouraged to set up an instalment plan; the energy coupons are accepted by ARMS Limited as long as the instalment plan is honoured," the company said.

I pay my my electricity bills regularly and I expect ARMS to disconnect the service of thsoe who do not pay. I do NOT want to subsidize others. No, I am, not a good catholic.

It seems you are well off even though you're a pensioner!!
There were times when the electricity and water bills were very simple to read and calculate the consumption against payment very easily. Every one could do it!! And that was when the charges were low and and decent. Better still there was no single family who was deprived from elec and water. Not to mention that in the US it is not permitted and illegal to disconnect the water service for health and hygienic reasons.
Today no one unless you're with ARMS can work out the bill nor calculate the consumption against payment. Why? We are being robbed and skimmed LEGALLY.
What I would ask is, when there is no means what else is there to do? We did not get a €500 (€600 supposedly) weekly rise nor are we paid two salaries for the same job. Aren't you subsidizing for Gonzi & Co? So you are a Catholic, may not as good but you are and you choose when you intend to be!!!
