Malta’s consul to Germany, Thomas Stöcker, was yesterday conferred with honorary membership of the National Order of Merit at the Palace, yesterday.

Joseph Micallef, Malta’s honorary consul general in St Paul Minnesota, in the US, was made an officer in the order, while Krystyna Maria Mikulanka, Malta’s honorary consul to Warsaw, Poland, was also made a member.

Honorary membership in the National Order of Merit is given to foreign nationals “who have distinguished themselves by their service in the promotion and fostering of international relations or who earn the respect and gratitude of the people of the Maltese Islands”.
