Russian Orthodox St Nicholas cathedral, in Nice, has been handed over to the Russian Orthodox Church. The church has been closed by the Cultural Orthodox Associaton to protest against the decision of the new owners not to charge an entry fee to visitors anymore.

The association argues that the funds were used to pay the employees of the church for visitors reception and maintenance.

The Russian Orthodox Cathedral, is a national monument of France. It was inaugurated in 1912, thanks to the generosity of Tsar Nicholas II. It is claimed to be the largest Russian Orthodox cathedral outside Russia.
