Pace prevails in tight shoot

Frans Pace had to rely on his vast reserves of experience yesterday to top a tight Vivendo Group Trap Selection shoot organised by the Malta Shooting Sport Federation in Bidnija.

The competition was on 125 clays with the best six qualifying for the final.

Pace collected 112 points after rounds of 23, 22, 23, 21 and 23 before another 23 in the barrage for an overall score of 135, just one clay ahead of close runner-up George Cassar (134, 112+22) and two better off than third-placed Stephen Vella (133, 113+20).

Vella had acquired the best result in the qualifying rounds but lowered his guard in the final, just managing a 20.

Jason J. Aquilina was fourth (132, 112+20).

Aquilina was followed by Jeffrey Pisani (130, 110+20) and Anthony Bugeja (128, 111+17).
