A Romanian man admitted in court today that he managed to gain access to a neighbour's computer via wi-fi. He gained access to his neighbour's credit card details which were saved on the computer and purchased clothing items for a total of €480.

Montanu Dan Vladimir, 26 of Buchrest but resident in Msida, admitted having gained access to the computer on August 18. He admitted theft and computer misuse.

Police Inspector Anna-Marie Micallef that the accused had by-passed the wi-fi system and used his neighbour's credit card details to buy Dolce Gabbana shoes as well as flip flops and swim shorts.

The items were delivered to another address, from where he picked them up.

The victim noticed the purchases and alerted the police while suspecting the accused.

The accused returned the money and apologised.

Magistrate Edwina Grima handed an eight-month jail term suspended for a year and warned him not to do 'silly things' like this again.
