Translating jazz into colour

Spirtupront is the name of an innovative event featuring American jazz artist David Paquette and Maltese painter Rupert Cefai.

The event, which will be based around impromptu live music and painting sessions reflecting the essence of Spirtupront, will run for three nights between 8 and 10.30 p.m. at the Palm Court Lounge in the Phoenicia Hotel, Floriana, from Thursday.

A veteran of the international jazz circuit, Paquette, who has performed all over the world alongside some significant artists, among them Tony Bennett, Phil Collins, Joe Cocker and Bonnie Raitt, will be performing music on the piano, with Cefai translating his own interpretation of the musician’s jazz on canvas.

Entrance is free.
