I have just heard through the grapevine that Air Malta is stopping the flight to Reggio Calabria. This would come as a big surprise to me as not more than four months ago I had booked six seats for my family and I to spend a short holiday there this coming December and this after seeing an advert on Air Malta’s website offering discounted prices for this particular flight.

Obviously, we have already paid the flight for the six of us as well as the hotel deposit for our stay at Reggio. We will now wait for the official notification from Air Malta but I have checked telephonically with their offices and have been told that all flights to Reggio have been cancelled, including ours.

I appreciate Air Malta’s efforts to trim its expenses as much possible in view of the financial situation but what I cannot understand is why it had to suppress this particular flight.

This flight was not a direct one to Reggio and back but it was the Malta-Reggio-Rome and back flight, so it was also catering for flights to Italy’s capital.

I honestly wish that Air Malta will reconsider its decision.
