An opportunity to discover most of the Maltese culture and traditions takes places in the village of Qormi today and tomorrow.

During the Casal Fornaro festival, one can roam the traditionally-decorated streets of the village – renowned for its bread-making – while appreciating several exhibitions. Customs and traditions are also reflected in the food items and the entertainment offered, which include drama, traditional shows, folkloristic dance, artistic displays, and agricultural exhibitions.

The old streets of Citta Pinto are being transformed into what they once were, hundreds of years ago during the Knights’ period by means of a folkloristic ambiance, as well as traditional decorations and adornments. Apart from this, the main attractions will surely be the different stages, each one offering live drama, Maltese traditional songs (including għana), marches from numerous Maltese bands, and shows by established singers and top local talent.

A Night in Casal Fornaro kicks off today with a concert by Virtuosi Band, a concert by tribute band Dial Straits, a 100-foot-long Maltese baguette and a bread pudding competition.

Special attractions tomorrow include a concert by Maltese band ‘New Cuorey’, a pop concert by the Pinto Brass band, a performance by local veteran singer Enzo Gusman and traditional band marches by Malta’s oldest musical societies among many others.

For the fourth consecutive year, the shelter beneath the police station, which was cleaned and opened for the public for the first time last year by the same organisers, is also going to be exhibited.

This unique activity is one of the most long-awaited local events for all the family.

It is a cultural, educational and recreational celebration which brings together our rich traditions, which have always been part of the fabric of Maltese culture since the days of our ancestors.
