Air Malta shall be announcing its schedule of flight to Libya as soon as Tripoli airport is open to commercial airlines and the safety and security of Air Malta passengers, crew and aircraft are not comprised.

In a statement, the airline welcomed the news that visa applications have started being processed at the Maltese embassy in Tripoli.

It said it was closely working with the Maltese government and Libyan officials with a view to restart services to Tripoli and possibly Benghazi as soon as the situation permitted and approvals were granted.

Over the last days the airline has conducted various discussions with several stakeholders including local businesses and is continuously monitoring and assessing the situation on the ground through its contacts in Tripoli and Benghazi.
