Maltese business people on a trade mission to Germany until tomorrow have held more than 50 one-to-one meetings with counterparts in Düsseldorf.
The ‘matchmaking’ event on Tuesday followed a business forum themed ‘Malta and Germany: opportunities for cooperation and investment’, organised by Malta Enterpise with the support of the Maltese embassy and ZENIT GmbH, a public private partnership with the government of North Rhine Westphalia.
The partnership focuses on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in their innovation activities.
More than 40 German companies participated in the event, which aimed to promote Malta as a business and investment location but also to present business possibilities to Maltese entrepreneurs in the German market.
German attendees hailed from similar sectors to the visiting Maltese firms: ICT, tourism, banking, financial services and renewable energy.
Ambassador Karl Xuereb emphasised the importance of such business events and the personal interaction of entrepreneurs. Malta Enterprise executive chairman Alan Camilleri showcased Malta as an ideal hub for trade and investment, explaining the legal and tax advantages and incentives offered to foreign investors in Malta.
Representatives of aircraft maintenance firm Lufthansa Technik and tourism firm Frosch Turistik gave their testimonial of business relationships between the two countries.
The event, which was also supported by the Düsseldorf Chamber of Commerce, formed part of a series taking place in Germany until tomorrow.
The delegation travelled to Berlin, where another business forum followed by a matchmaking event was organised Malta Enterprise.
In conjunction with FinanceMalta, Malta Enterprise is also holding six separate events which are specifically aimed at attracting financial services business to the jurisdiction.
