Obituary

BORG. On September 13, at Boffa Hospital, CARMELO of Mosta, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church, at the age of 80. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Doris, née Sciberras, his son Fr Lonnie Borg, MSSP, missionary in the Philippines, his daughters Josette and her husband John Meli and their daughter Elysa, Marianne and her husband Stephen Mercieca and their daughters Maria, Lara, Suzannah and Julia, his sister Maria, widow of Ġamri Bartolo, in-laws, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8 a.m. for Mosta parish church, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Missionary Society of St Paul will be greatly appreciated. The family wish to thank all the staff at Boffa Hospital Ward 2 for their loving care and attention. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

BORG. On September 13, at Mater Dei Hospital, GRACE of Birkirkara, widow of Michael, aged 91, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Joe and his wife May, Manwel and his wife Helen, Louis and Monica, Helen and her husband Mario Azzopardi, Maria and her husband Joseph Camilleri, her grandchildren Elaine, Abigail, Melanie, Sarah, Cheryl, Michael and Reuben, her sister Helen, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2.30 p.m. for St Helen’s Basilica, Birkirkara, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3 p.m., followed by interment at Mosta cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

FERRIS. On September 13, at his residence in Sliema, ANTHONY, aged 55, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Lorraine, née Gatt, his sons Gabriel and his wife Diane, and Luke, his sisters and brothers, Lina and her husband Alex Shaw, Louis and his wife Anne, Edwin and his wife Aida, Rose and her husband Noel Caruana Scicluna, his twin sister Anna and her husband Capt. Ian Pace Bardon, and Ray and his wife Nathalie, his in-laws Leo Gatt and his wife Maria, Simon and his wife Marina, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Mass will be said tomorrow at 9.30 a.m. at Jesus of Nazareth parish church, Sliema. The family would like to express their appreciation to their GP, doctors and the staff at Hospice Malta, Balzan, for their support and dedication.

Lectures open to public

For the third year running, the University of Malta is making a series of courses available to the public. No certification will be issued and attendance is free. A list of courses and other information is available at www.um.edu.mt/publiclectures. Registration for courses between October and February is open until September 23

Jumble sale

A jumble sale will be held at the Guardamangia parish hall, close to the church, in aid of the Fatima Sanctuary, from September 16 to October 16 between 9.30 a.m. to noon and 2.30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
