Guitar hero Jeff Beck is to be honoured as a “living legend” at an awards event for Classic Rock magazine.
The former Yardbirds star – best know for his recording of the hit Hi Ho Silver Lining – will be given the award in November.
The musician, 67, admired as a rock guitarist as well as for his blues and jazz fusion, has received eight Grammys and been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame twice.
Mr Beck said: “When I was a six-year-old boy I heard Les Paul’s How High The Moon over the radio and from that moment on I knew that I wanted to play the guitar and make music. That moment has led me to where I am today.”
The Classic Rock Roll Of Honour takes place at The Roundhouse in north London on November 9 and will be hosted by Kiss frontman Gene Simmons.
