Over 50 one-to-one meetings were held between entrepreneurs forming part of a Maltese business delegation currently visiting Germany and their counterparts in Düsseldorf today when entrepreneurs from the two countries discuseds potential cooperation and business relations.

The matchmaking event followed a business forum entitled "Malta and Germany: Opportunities for Cooperation and Investment", organised by Malta Enterpise with the support of the Embassy of Malta in Germany and ZENIT GmbH - a public private partnership company with the involvement of the government of North Rhine Westphalia that supports small and medium size enterprises in their innovation activities.

The event, which not only aimed at promoting Malta as a business and investment location but also to present business possibilities to Maltese entrepreneurs in the German market, was attended by more than 40 German companies from similar sectors as those in which the 15 Maltese entrepreneurs in the delegation are involved. These sectors include ICT, tourism, banking, financial services and renewable energies.

Ambassador Karl Xuereb emphasised the importance of such events and the personal interaction of entrepreneurs from Malta and Germany.

ME executive chairman Alan Camilleri presented Malta as the ideal hub for trade and investment and explained the legal and tax advantages as well as other incentives offered to foreign investors in Malta.

Other presentations were delivered by representatives from Lufthansa Technik and Frosch Turistik, who gave their testimonial of business relationships between the two countries.

The event, also supported by the Düsseldorf Chamber of Commerce, formed part of a series of business events taking place in Germany between today and Friday.

The business delegation will be moving to Berlin, where another forum followed by another matchmaking event shall be organised by Malta Enterprise.

In the German capital, Malta Enterprise in conjunction with FinanceMalta is also organising six events specifically aimed at attracting foreign direct investment to Malta, particularly within the financial services industry.
