Albanian tries to leave with false passport
A 28-year-old Albanian was this morning jailed for one year suspended for two after he pleaded guilty to trying to leave Malta with a false passport.
Calaj Klodjan tried to leave Malta last Sunday with a Greek passport and driving licence.
He will be kept in custody until his Albanian passport is issued.

The question I would like to ask is...who cares? The guy was leaving Maltese territory, maybe even EU territority. Look at the Americans. Inspite being extremely strict as regards entering the USA, visa and all, there are actually NO PASSPORT OR IDENTITY checks at all on leaving the USA. Same in UK, same in Canada.

This is simply not true - you cannot get on a plane anywhere without showing your passport - I recently flew from Canada to London.

The question I would like to know is - where did he get these false documents from? Is there a 'people smuggling ring' in Malta able to supply false documents?
