A spectacle based on folklore and traditional customs will be held in Tarxien next Sunday starting at 10 a.m.

Puniċi – l-istorja tibda hawn loosely translated as The Phoenicians, the story starts here, reflects the eventful history of Tarxien as it evolved with the history of the rest of the island.

The Phoenicians were well known for their maritime travel and business in the Med-iterranean. They arrived in Malta in 800 BC, where among other towns and villages, they inhabitied the village of Tarxien.

The activities will feature photography exhibitions, art and craft displays, statues of of saints used in feasts and World War II vehicles.

Other interesting items in-clude the blessing of horses, and dancing. Craft, fruit and veg-etable stalls willbe set up.

The event is being organised by the committees who organise the outside activities of the feast of the Annunciation in col-laboration with the local council.

The evening will offer a totally different spectacle with actors dressed in period costumes re-enacting everyday life in the 19th century.

The activities will be held in the heart of the village in the neighbourhood called Ta’ wara l-Knisja and in Strada Rjali which is dotted with villas and palaces.
