Warsaw’s annual Cross Culture Festival brings together musicians from around the world for a week-long series of concerts celebrating musical diversity.

Performers from as far afield as Brazil, India and Burkina Faso play at the Polish capital’s Palace of Culture and Science.

The festival was first held in 2005, and in 2010 it was cited by Songlines magazine as one of the 25 best world music festivals.

Cross Culture has been visited by such varied artists and groups as Kiri Te Kanawa, Le Mystere Des Voix Bulgar, Tuvan group Huun-Huur-Tu, Roby Lakatos and Youssou N’Dour.

But it’s not just about music; film and workshops are included in the programme aimed at improving the multi-cultural landscape of Warsaw.

This year’s star performers are Sara Tavares from Portugal, Spain’s master of flamenco Carmen Linares, Galician performer Mercedes Peón, and Femi Kuti, Nigerian musician and eldest son of the creator of the Afro-beat, Fela Kuti.

The final day is family day and the programme includes a special children’s concert.

Tickets for Femi Kuti and Urszula Dudziak Superband concerts cost PLN 30, 50 or 70 (€7, €11.80, or €16.60); tickets for the rest of the concerts cost PLN 25 (€5.90) and a six-day ticket costs PLN 100 (€23.60) (excluding the gala concert and the children’s concert). Tickets for the children’s concert cost PLN 10 (€2.40).
