Government simply jumped on the Libya bandwagon
Funny how the government chose to sit on the fence throughout the Libyan conflict, waiting to see the outcome.
As soon as the rebels (heroes in my view) entered Tripoli overrunning the dictator’s compound, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi declared that Malta is recognising the Transitional National Council.
What cheek! My poor country only values what it can gain financially.
Long gone the days of moral values and principles.

PM Gonzi waited and waited on the fence to see how the war was to be won and who was going to win it. When he was sure that the brave Rebels had the upper hand, Dr Gonzi jumped on the new Libya band wagon and started waving their new freedom flag. I wonder what he would have done if Gaddafi had the upper hand? As they say. L-ixkubetta fija il-grillu u kulhadd jghamel kif jghaqbillu". Go with the flow.

but not all maltese politicians are like that ie, go with the flow. if mintoff was leading the country now he would have definitly gone to libya when this trouble started, negotiated with the two side brought them to a peaceful solution nato would have not got involved and many if not all libyans who lost their lives will still be here today the maltese workers in libya would still have there jobs and the good name of malta would end up on the front pages of newspapers worldwide.

That's the way politicians work- opportunism is the name of their game.

I agree with this writer, that is why we in malta shouldn't make too much of all the gibberish coming out of our politicans mouth. And also to gain a few millions in exports and imports. But I am sure the big contracts will not come Malta's way.

What do you expect, if gaddaffi had the upper hand the government will be praising gaddaffi and the rebels will be just that rebel rats. Now lets wait and see the true face of the TNC.
