The sieges of 1565 and 1940-43 were commemorated at Independence Square, Victoria, last Sunday. The programme started with the reading of Charles Bezzina’s poem It-Tmienja Ta’ Settembru by Joe Attard. Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono laid a wreath at the foot of Christ the King monument. The Xagħra Historical Re-enactment Group and the Armed Forces of Malta took part.
