Harpsichordist Bridget Cunningham will conduct master classes in the art of harpsichord playing in Victoria starting on Wednesday.
Besides her intense activity as a concert performer (including playing for the royal family), the British harpsichordist has recorded extensively.
The master class is being organised by the Victoria International Arts Festival Foundation as part of an eco-Gozo funded project. Three sessions will be held – Wednesday (morning and afternoon) and Thursday (morning).
These sessions will be held in the Aula Mgr Giuseppe Farrugia of St George’s Basilica in Victoria (from 9.30 to 11.30 a.m., and 2.30 to 4.30 p.m.), and will deal with an introduction to harpsichord technique in the baroque era, repertoire in the middle and late baroque period and continuo and accompaniment.
Interested participants, who should be proficient in piano playing, can either apply online (frgfrendo@yahoo.co.uk) or register on the day for a registration fee of €10. Passive participants are also welcome.
Participants from Malta will be provided with free transport from Mġarr to Victoria and back.
