Arriva has been generally blamed for all that went wrong with the new public transport system when one must never forget that the new routes as well as the re-employment of the bus drivers from the old service, who wanted to rule the roost and caused so much hardship to the many travellers, were not of Arriva’s own fault or design, although it was Arriva that faced the wrath of the travelling public. The fault for this other mighty cock-up lies squarely on the shoulders of Transport Malta, which designed the new system and routes for Arriva.
One negative thing that can be noticed on our roads these days and should gravely concern Arriva’s management is that some of their drivers (most probably the ones that Arriva inherited from the old bus service) are reverting to their old driving habits and can be noticed speeding and using their mobile phones while driving. Some also stop in the middle of the road to pick up passengers when the particular bus stop bays are empty. One can also begin to distinguish between the new and well-trained or foreign drivers who obey the Highway Code against some of the established ones with their many years of poor driving skills and bad driving habits!
Arriva please take note and action now before these defaulters fall back into their old and unacceptable driving habits.
