Five young Maltese athletes are taking part in the fourth edition of the Commonwealth Youth Games, currently being held in the Isle of Man.
The five athletes, three swimmers and two gymnasts, form part of the Maltese Olympic Committee (MOC) Youth programme.
Their participation in this competition will enhance their experience in a multi-sport environment such as the Commonwealth Youth Games, the MOC said in a statement.
Between today and Sunday, gymnasts Andreana Zammit and Kirsty Caruana will compete in the artistic team, individual all-round and individual apparatus events.
Swimmers Nicola Muscat, Andrea Agius and Mark Sammut will be involved in various heats this morning with the finals scheduled for the evening.
The swimming events will be held between today and Sunday.
Muscat has entered the 100m freestyle, 50m butterfly, 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke.
Agius will swim the 50m and 100m breaststroke and Sammut the 50m butterfly, 50m backstroke, 100m butterfly and 100m backstroke.
The Maltese contingent is being led by MOC secretary Joe Cassar.
