Sandro: Sandro has committed his future to Tottenham by signing a new five-year contract, the club said yesterday. Sandro joined Tottenham from Brazilian club Internacional last March and made an immediate impact, starring in midfield alongside Luka Modric towards the end of last season.
Magath: Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath has been given a vote of confidence ahead of their meeting with his former club Schalke this weekend. The Wolves have made a dismal start to the season with three straight defeats but Wolfsburg chairman Francisco Garcia Sanz said: “We have faith in Magath. He has always managed it in the end.”
Nasri: Manchester City’s new signing Samir Nasri is still expected to make his home debut against Wigan tomorrow despite a hand injury. City are yet to confirm the nature of the problem Nasri suffered while with France this week but are not thought to be overly concerned.
Nice: Nice announced yesterday that they will lodge an appeal after FIFA refused to ratify the transfer of Yannick Djalo from Sporting Lisbon. FIFA say that the deal for Djalo, 25, was not completed before the transfer deadline at midnight on August 31.
