A consignment of food products which arrived in Malta by Catamaran from Sicily has been returned as the local operators were not in a position to ensure that the products would be processed in line with food transport regulations.

The operation was carried out by the Consumers Authority, Customs, the Environmental and Veterinary departments and the police.

This was the second time in two weeks that a consignment of food was sent back.

The Consumers Authority warned that similar actions were planned in order to enforce food transport regulations in the interest of the Maltese consumer.
