Zlatan Ibrahimovic says AC Milan are favourites to retain their title this season because they have strengthened well in the summer.

Milan bought defenders Philippe Mexes and Taye Taiwo while adding Italy midfielders Alberto Aquilani and Antonio Nocerino to replace the departed Andrea Pirlo.

And for the big Swedish striker, that's enough to ensure they keep their noses in front.

"We're still favourites, we've strengthened in this transfer window," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"We're better than we were last season, I'm happy with all the signings we've made."

Ibrahimovic said he was desperate to start the new season after the first weekend was postponed due to a player strike, something the Swede says he never understood.

"The strike delayed the start of the season and to be honest I never really understood why we stopped, all I know is that at last we're starting," he said.
