Malta Enterprise supports local companies examining UAE opportunities

Malta Enterprise’s Dubai office has hosted several trade missions over the past few months, as various Maltese enterprises sought to learn more about the opportunities available in the United Arab Emirates.

The companies operate in sectors such as consultancy, service providers in the oil and gas industry and designers and suppliers of medical gas engineering projects.

The Malta Enterprise office in Dubai supported these companies by identifying some potential partners in the UAE and setting up more than 200 one-to-one meetings .

One of the Maltese entrepreneurs said he turned to the agency to seek new markets after facing difficulty in sustaining turnover throughout the Libya crisis. He said the Middle East was a logical choice as there were similarities in culture, language and business environment.

“Malta Enterprise is there to support Maltese industry,” the agency’s head of the trade and investment promotion unit said. “With our satellite offices or regional leaders such as the one in Dubai we could offer services on the ground. We are experiencing this today with a large number of Maltese companies which were active in North Africa and are seeking new markets.”
