The Animal Welfare Department has made a call for volunteers to bottle feed young animals.

"We are in urgent need of volunteers who might give us a hand in bottle feeding. This year has been incredible - the amount of animal babies found at this stage is around 100, but thanks to a group of dedicated people we have managed to save almost each and every one of them," animal welfare officer Janice Caruana said.

Cashmere, the kitten featured in the picture, is the most recent discovery.

"He's around 10 days old and very vulnerable but already a survivor!" Ms Caruana said.

Anyone interested in giving him individual attention through bottle feeding can call  on 25904132 Mon to Fri between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Ms Caruana thanked the volunteers who are already giving a helping hand.
