I refer to John Mizzi’s letter entitled Scout Movement And The Sea Cadets (August 22).

Contrary to what Mr Mizzi states, that “...the Malta Sea Cadets are... not linked with the Armed Forces of Malta...”, it would be beneficial for readers to know that the Malta GC Unit of the Sea Cadets Corps, that goes by the name of Training Ship St Paul, has signed, on March 30 this year, an affiliation with the Armed Forces of Malta.

The Malta GC Unit which, as Mr Mizzi aptly pointed out, already enjoys affiliations with HMS Illustrious, 815 Naval Air Squadron and The Royal Anglian Regiment, has now successfully garnered the AFM’s prestigious affiliation to this list. The AFM commander, Brigadier Martin Xuereb, has also accepted the title of honorary president of the Malta GC Unit.
