Mr JAMES ANTHONY STAUNTON, MA Economics and Ms MELISSA MIFSUD, Lawyer, University of Mainz, Germany

Mr and Mrs David Mifsud of Hainburg, Germany, and Żebbuġ, Malta, would like to announce the marriage of their daughter MELISSA to JAMES, son of Mr and Mrs William Staunton of Athlone, Ireland. The marriage ceremony took place on July 30 at the parish of St Nicholas in Hainburg, Germany. The bride was attended by the groom’s sister, Triona Staunton, and by her cousins Michaela and Sara Muscat, who flew to Germany for the occasion. Ms Kim Zittlau and Mr Alan Staunton, the groom’s brother, witnessed the marriage. A reception was later held at the Hotel Kempinski in Gravenbruch. The couple spent their honeymoon in Bali and Singapore. They are taking up residence in Frankfurt, Germany.

Obituary

ARRIGO AZZOPARDI. On August 24, at St Catherine’s Home, Attard, Sister ANNA MARIE, aged 73, passed peacefully away, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her sisters Iris, Doris and her husband Vince Muscat, and Evelyn, Paul Ellul, widower of her sister Rose, the Dominican Sisters community, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be said tomorrow at 8 a.m. at St Catherine’s Home, Attard, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

SALIBA. On August 26, EMANUEL of Victoria, aged 75, diocesan president of the Catholic Action, passed away suddenly but peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Rose, his son Fr Anthony Mario, his daughter Carol and her husband Michael Caruana and his grandchildren Claire, Joseph and Mario; his brothers Lino, Vincent and Fr Francis and their in-laws, nephews and nieces; the Gozo Cathedral parish of Santa Marija, the Leone Philharmonic Society and members of the Gozo Catholic Action. The funeral leaves the Franciscan church in Palm Street, Victoria, tomorrow at 4.30 p.m. for Gozo Cathedral, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 5 p.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria cemetery. Lord grant him eternal rest.

TONNA. On August 27 at Mater Dei Hospital, PAUL, aged 78, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Annie, his children Silvana and her husband Joseph, Ivan and his wife Antonella, his grandchildren Daniel, Hannah, Mariah and Malcolm, in-laws, other relatives and friends. Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated tomorrow at 8.30 a.m. at Holy Trinity parish church, Marsa, followed by interment at St Margherita cemetery, Rabat. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Thanks to the doctors and staff at Mater Dei and Sir Paul Boffa hospitals for all their care and dedication.
