• The feast of Our Lady of Loreto is being celebrated in Għajnsielem today. At 9 a.m. Gozo Bishop Mario Grech will concelebrate Mass and deliver the homily. Marches will be played at 5.30 p.m. by the St Margaret Band and at 6.30 and 7.45 p.m. by the St Joseph and Leone bands. Solemn vespers led by Archpriest Frankie Bajada will be sung at 6.30 p.m.

The procession, led by Mgr Joseph Cauchi and accompanied by the St Joseph Band, leaves the church at 7.30 p.m. The Leone Band will perform at Our Lady of Loreto Square at 8.30 p.m. The procession will end with a Eucharistic celebration at 10.25 p.m. and marches by the St Gregory Band from J. F. de Chambrai Street to Sanctuary Square at 10.45 p.m.

• Masses at Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary will be held today at 6.15 a.m., 8.30, 10, 11.15 and 5 p.m., followed by the recital of the rosary and Eucharistic benediction.

• The diocesan Eucharistic Movement will hold a prayer evening at Our Lady of Mount Carmel church, Ta’ Ħamet, on Saturday at 8.30p.m., followed by Mass at midnight.

• The Bethel Charismatic Group is holding a prayer meeting at the church of Our Lady of Pompeii, Victoria, on Saturday at 7 p.m.

• The Delicata Wine festival at Ġnien il-Kunsill, Nadur, will be held on Friday, Saturday and next Sunday at 7 p.m. Wine will be served until 11.30 p.m. Over 20 quality Gozitan and Maltese wines will be available. People who wish to try the wines need only purchase a souvenir wine glass, which is theirs to keep.

A number of food stalls will be available offering a variety of food, such as suckling pig, oriental dishes, pasta and rabbit. There will also be a seated dining area and live entertainment by J. Anvil. On Saturday night there will be music by Chasing Pandora. A bus shuttle service will run each evening between Mġarr Harbour and the festival at a cost of €2.

• The sixth Qala International Folk Festival organised by Qala Council, will take place from September 15 to 18. The Menħir Qala Folk Group will entertain guests.

There will also be three folk groups from Sicily, Belarus and Ireland. The International Conference on Maltese Folklore will take place on September 17.

A new attraction will be a group of children from Qala who will be playing traditional Gozitan games and dancing to traditional music. As in previous years, there will be a re-enactment of a traditional Maltese wedding ‘It-tieġ fl-antik’.

The programme will also include folk dance groups from Malta and Gozo, as well as an exhibition of traditional crafts originating in Qala, such as weaving of reeds and leaves.

• A journey of exhibitions through faith, history and art will be launched on Friday at Dar l-Imnarja, Pjazza 28 ta’ April 1688, Nadur.

In this first edition, organised by the Cultural Commission of Nadur parich and Nadur council, the theme is ‘Memories from the last World War’. The exhibition is open until September 11, from 9 to 11.30 a.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

• Art Club 2,000 is holding a collective art exhibition at the Gozo Ministry exhibition hall at St Francis Square, Victoria. Fifty Art Club members are exhibiting various works, among which are paintings in different media, ceramics and sculpture. The exhibition is open until Wednesday. Visiting hours are Monday to Wednesday from 8.30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

• Gozo Bishop Mario Grech will lead a diocesan pilgrimage to the Shrine of the Nativity of Our Lady in Mellieħa on September 6. The pilgrimage will leave Mġarr on the 5.15 p.m. ferry and will return on the 9 p.m. boat. Tickets are available from Gozo parishes.

• The Lay Fraternity of Charles de Foucauld (Gozo) is holding its annual summer get-together on Tuesday, starting with Mass at 7.15 p.m. at the Salesian Sisters’ summer residence at Don Bosco House, Triq ix-Xwejni, Qbajjar, followed by a leisurely social activity in the vicinity.
