Obituary

GRASSO. On August 26, at Dar tal-Kleru, Birkirkara, FR WALTER EDGAR, aged 86, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his brother Albert and his wife Maria, his sister Helen, widow of the late Joseph Bartolo, and his brother Edward (of Australia) and his wife Lucy, their families, the Fathers, Sisters, and Staff of Dar tal-Kleru, other relatives and friends Funeral Mass, praesente cadavere, will be celebrated today at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Dar tal-Kleru, Birkirkara, followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request, but donations to Dar tal-Kleru will be appreciated.

GRECH. On August 26, at St Vincent de Paule Residence, SYLVIA, aged 90, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Eggie, her daughters Astrid Beesley, Tanja Borg-Cardona and David Newman, Melanie and Andrew Calleja, her beloved grandchildren Mark, Leanne, David, Bettina, Maxine and Leanne Bugeja. Mass praesente cadavere will be held at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery chapel tomorrow at 10 a.m. followed by interment in the family grave. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

TABONE. On August 26, at St James Capua Hospital, Sliema, MARY, née Callus, widow of John, aged 92, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her great loss her daughter Antonina, wife of Lino, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Maria and Alfred and their children, other relatives and friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be said today at 8.45 a.m. at St Gregory’s parish church, Sliema, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolo­rata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

WAREING. On August 24, STANLEY JAMES (known as Jim), of St Andrew’s (ex-Bonello’s Petrol Station), aged 68, passed away peacefully to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Rita, née Bonello, his children Valerie and her husband Ramon Debono, Tony and his wife Carmen, Debbie, Sue and her husband Adrian Psaila, his grandchildren Thomas, Sean, Carla, Luca, Jake, Kate and Trisha, his brothers and sister, in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 8.15 a.m. for Tal-Ibraġ parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Thanks to the doctors and staff at SW2, Mater Dei Hospital, for all their care and dedication. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

Requiem Mass

A Mass for the repose of DION CARDONA will be celebrated tomorrow at 10.30 a.m. at Attard parish church. The attendance of relatives and friends would be appreciated.

HOLLAND – Dr PATRICK. Loving and treasured memories of a dear husband and father, today the 25th anniversary of his demise. Always in our hearts and prayers, his wife Rose Mary, daughter Helena, brother, sister, in-laws, nephews and nieces. O Lord, grant him eternal rest.

Power cuts

There will be power cuts in the following localities on Monday:

From 8 a.m. until noon in Il-Moll tal-Ħatab and Fra Diegu, Sajjieda, Jesuits Hill and Patri Feliċjan Bilocca streets in Marsa.

From 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. in Tal-Gallu, Hompesch, Pepprin, Sur, St John and St Anthony streets and Cospicua Road in Fgura.

From 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. in Ċejlu Alley and Dun Ġakominu Galea Street in Naxxar.

From 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. in Markiżi Zimmermann Barbaro, Mattew Pulis, St Anthony, Pace and Ċensu Xerri streets and Tigné Seafront in Sliema.

From 8.30 a.m. until 12.30p.m. in Dawwara, Għar Gerduf, Dun Pawl Micallef and Pawlu Portelli streets in Victoria.

Maltapost blackout

Maltapost will not be able to provide most of its services, especially those dependent on the telephone and website, on Monday because of a power cut between noon and 4 p.m. The situation will also affect post offices. All services are expected to return to normal after 4 p.m.

Blood donation

The mobile blood donation unit will be available for blood donation at Siġġiewi, in front of the police station, tomorrow, from 8.30 a.m. till 1 p.m.
