The General Workers’ Union yesterday presented Arriva Malta with a set of proposals for the first collective agreement.

Arriva managing director Keith Bastow and human resources manager Pauline Saliba were among the Arriva management members who met GWU deputy general secretary Michael Parnis and section secretary Charles Agius.

“The collective agreement addresses working hours, wages and shifts. I personally don’t think we’re going to find any major difficulties. So far, we’ve had a very good relationship with Arriva,” Mr Parnis said when contacted.

Arriva Malta’s industrial relations were immediately put into the spotlight when several bus drivers failed to turn up for the first day of service in protest at the way the roster had been set despite the GWU having managed to reach a compromise with the company.
