Floriana beat Tarxien to maintain perfect start

Floriana maintained their perfect record in the BOV Premier League when they saw off Tarxien Rainbows 2-1 at the Hibs Stadium today.

Floriana Greens who drew first blood on 18 minutes. The Greens were awarded a free-kick on 18 minutes and Christian Cassar's swerving cross was inadvertently deflected into his own net by Tarxien defender Everton.

However, Floriana's joy was shortlived as five minutes later the Rainbows drew level. Bueno tried to turn past Micallef but was upended by the Floriana defender in the area and the referee immediately pointed to the spot.

However, it was Floriana who struck the killer blow early in the second half. The clock marked 52 minutes when Woods picked Odwong with a delightful pick and the Nigerian striker hit a low shot that gave no chance to Tarxien keeper David Cassar.

Christian Cassar was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
