Hassan Mustafa, president of the International Handball Federation (IHF), was recently in Malta as part of the Egyptian Olympic Committee delegation promoting their bid to host the Mediterranean Games in Alexandria in 2017.

During his stay, Dr Hassan took the opportunity to meet Louis Borg, president of the Malta Handball Association (MHA).

Also present for the meeting were MHA officials Clyde Borg Conti and Alan Grima.

Dr Hassan remarked that he was very pleased with the MHA and its endeavours to continue growing the sport in Malta.

He pledged to do his utmost to increase the MHA’s budget for future development to promote handball further.

Recently, Malta received various items of equipment, through the IHF development programme, which were distributed to local clubs during the annual present-ations ceremony that was also attended by Clyde Puli, Parliamentary Secretary for Sport.

The country’s lack of handball courts was mentioned in the meeting and Dr Hassan promised to assist the MHA in having multi-purpose flooring that can be deployed at different venues.

The association thanked Dr Hassan for his support, particularly in helping them in their International Senior Programme now that the Challenge Trophy is restricted to players under 23 years of age.
