Obituary

BALDACCHINO. On August 25, at Sir Paul Boffa Hospital, MARTHESE, née Abela, of Cospicua and residing in Marsascala, aged 59, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Joseph, her sons Sauveur-Karl and his wife Catherine, Jurgen, her grandson Sean, her brother Anthony and his wife Ċettina, her sister Valerie and her husband Ray, Joyce, widow of her brother Joe, her nephews Ramon, Reuben, Rutger and nieces Antoniette-Greta and Maria, her husband’s brother and sisters, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8.15 a.m. for St Anne’s parish church, Marsascala, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m. followed by interment in the family’s grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

WAREING. On August 24, STANLEY JAMES (known as Jim), of St Andrew’s (ex-Bonello’s Petrol Station), aged 68, passed away peacefully to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Rita, née Bonello, his children Valerie and her husband Ramon Debono, Tony and his wife Carmen, Debbie, Sue and her husband Adrian Psaila, his grandchildren Thomas, Sean, Carla, Luca, Jake, Kate and Trisha, his brothers and sister, in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8.15 a.m. for Tal-Ibraġ parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Thanks to the doctors and staff at SW2, Mater Dei Hospital, for all their care and dedication. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

MIFSUD – HELEN (Lilly), née Bonnici. In loving memory of a dear mother and grandmother on the eighth anniversary of her demise. Always in our hearts and prayers. Sadly missed by her children Anthony, Angele, Vicky and their families.

PIZZUTO. In loving memory of MABEL J., today being the 11th anniversary of her demise. Fondly remembered by her sister-in-law, nephews and nieces. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

SAVONA – FRANCES, née Rapinett. Treasured memories of a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, today the third anniversary of her passing away. Remembered always with love and sadly missed by her husband Tony, her son Godwin and his wife Carmen, her daughter Gertie, her husband Edwin and her daughter Mary-Rose. Rest in peace, lovely lady.

TANTI – JOSEPH. Cherished memories of a dear husband, father and grandfather on the 11th anniversary of his demise. Lovingly remembered by his wife Louise, his children Maria, Joe, Vince and Anna, in-laws and grandchildren. Always in our hearts and prayers.

In grateful acknowledgement to God for favours received through the intercession of St Jude.

O Holy St Jude, apostle and martyr, great in virtue and rich in miracles, near kinsman of Jesus Christ, faithful intercessor of all who invoke you, special patron in time of need, to you I have recourse from the depths of my heart and humbly beg you, whom God has given such great power, to come to my assistance. Help me now in my present and urgent need and grant my earnest petition. In return I promise to make your name known and cause you to be invoked. Architectural heritage award

Submissions for the 2011 Din l-Art Ħelwa Architectural Heritage Award must be received at 133, Melita St, Valletta, by September 30. The award is aimed at encouraging restoration and regeneration projects of traditional buildings and their adaptation to modern use or of new building projects in conservation areas that are sympathetic to their environment. Entries must be for projects completed in the year up to August 31, 2011.
