Last Sunday, while my nephew was with some family friends holidaying in Malta, he inadvertently left a bag on the luggage shelf of an Arriva bus. Inside it were, among other things, a mobile phone, a camera and items related to the care of a two-year old toddler.
He lodged an official report with the personnel of Arriva, who informed him that they would ring back if by any chance this particular bag were eventually found.
That afternoon, barely one hour before he was to take the coach from his hotel to catch the ferry back home to Italy, he was telling me about the incident and that he had forwarded my name as a contact reference in case of further developments.
Just as I was about to answer that he should not have high expectations (the bus was crowded and it is not an everyday occurrence that items like a camera and a mobile phone are returned to their owner, even if they are not filched by passengers) an official from Arriva phoned to inform him that the lost bag had been found and that he could pick it up at the Floriana Park and Ride depot.
My husband and I drove him immediately to the Floriana depot and the lost bag was picked up. He made it just in time to catch the ferry.
So, yes, in spite of many negative aspects of daily life, there are positive ones.
A special word of thanks goes to Arriva and the personnel involved.
